A 61-year-old man died after a fire was reported at the Manhattan Apartments on Saturday morning , authorities said. An alarm sounded in one of the apartments at about 7:50 a.m. Saturday, according to information from the Oak Ridge Fire Department that was provided by City of Oak Ridge spokesperson Sarah Self. Oak Ridge Police Department officers found heavy smoke inside the apartment when they arrived Saturday morning , and the Oak Ridge Fire Department was dispatched. Nearby residents were evacuated while  firefighters made entry to the apartment and extinguished the fire. A man was found inside, the city said. “Crews removed the victim and immediately began life -saving measures,” the ORFD said. “The victim was then transported by Anderson County EMS to Methodist Medical Center , where he was pronounced dead.” The man has been identified as Michael McAlister, age 61, of Oak Ridge. MOBILE, Ala. (WRKG) — According to MFRD Spokesman Steve Huffman , 19-year-old, Edwards Brookins has been arrested for the arson at the Oak Ridge apartments Tuesday afternoon. He confessed while being questioned by MFRD Fire Investigators . Brookins will be charged with Arson 1st, Resisting Arrest and Failure to Obey an Officer. Mobile Fire investigators released photos of the man accused of setting a fire at Oak Ridge Apartments on Moffett Road Tuesday afternoon .  The suspect was approached for questioning but ran away from investigators and into the woods off Wolf Ridge Road . Witnesses say the suspect then entered a silver sedan and escaped.  The driver of the vehicle could also face charges. The suspect is a black male believed to be in his late teens or early twenties. Edward Brookins Mobile Fire-Rescue Department   19-year-old Edward Brookins of Mobile was arrested by police on Wednesday afternoon in connection with setting an apartment on fire in west Mobile. MFRD spokesman Steve Huffman said fire investigators are looking into a fire that was started on Tuesday (August 15) at the Oak Ridge Apartments located at 4215 Moffett Road. The fire was reported at approximately 1:34 p.m. when Brookins was approached for questioning and ran from investigators. A male suspect believed to be in his early 20's is being sought after by the Mobile Fire Rescue Department in connection with a fire at the Oak Ridge Apartments . He was last seen getting in this vehicle near Moffett Road. Mobile Fire-Rescue Department   Huffman said a foot pursuit ensued , but the he was able to elude investigators. Burch Officers were called at 7:30 p.m. to the Oak Ridge Apartments , 109 E. 17th St., to speak with a female victim who was reporting an incident alleged to have just occurred at the 609 N. Washington St. residence of 24-year-old Andrew S. Burch. The victim told police she had just come from Burch’s home where she alleged was battered and strangled. She also alleged Burch had attempted to sexually batter her. She reported being stopped from leaving the residence several times, according to police. Police reported that Burch saw officers driving through the Oak Ridge lot and he fled from that area on foot. He was stopped in a church parking lot in the 1600 block of Chestnut Street and was taken into custody without further incident. Authorities booked Burch into the Dubois County Security Center at 9:01 p.m. on...
