TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Northwest Fire was on the scene of an apartment fire Monday at 7300 N Mona Lisa. According to Fire Captain Brian Keeley , crews arrived on the scene just before 2:30 p.m. and found the first floor of the apartment heavily involved in flames. Crews were able to put out the fire before it spread to other units. Firefighters say the apartment directly above suffered minor smoke damage . One resident was medically evaluated but declined to be transported to the hospital. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

A woman accused of fatally shooting a man parked in a truck in Algiers in 2015 was arrested by Harris County Sheriff 's deputies at a Houston, Texas apartment complex Sunday , according to the New Orleans Police Department . The NOPD said Shanta Massey, 24, was arrested on a charge of second degree murder after its Violent Offenders Warrant Squad received information that Massey was in Houston and sent her warrant information to Harris County. Massey allegedly shot and killed 25-year-old Jeren Johnson and a 20-year-old man while they were parked in a truck in the 2600 block of General Collins Avenue December 6 , 2015. Johnson was pronounced dead on the scene, while the 20-year-old man was transported to a hospital for treatment.

Police in Arlington, Texas are investigating an officer-involved shooting that took place on Saturday. A 27-year-old man faces gun charges after officers conducting a foot patrol at an Algiers apartment complex say they spotted him walking down a set of stairs, carrying a stolen AK-47 assault-style rifle in plain view, according to the New Orleans Police Department . Kendrick Woolridge was seen with the rifle about 1:15 a.m. Saturday (Aug. 12) by officers patrolling the Garden Oaks apartments , at 3300 Garden Oaks Drive , police said. Investigators learned the weapon had been reported stolen from Jefferson Parish. Woolridge was booked into the Orleans Justice Center jail Saturday with various gun charges, including possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a stolen firearm . He was also booked with a parole violation. Monday night, Woolridge remained in jail in lieu of a $35,000 bond, according to jail records. Two children dead in Overland Park apartment complex fire OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - Two children are dead and seven other people injured after an apartment complex caught fire early Tuesday morning , Overland Park Fire Dept . Media Manager Jason Rhodes said. The fire started before 2:30 a.m. near 89th and Glenwood streets. From the same unit, a woman suffered minor burns and smoke inhalation.

A top- floor apartment fire Monday afternoon in Elkridge ended after 65 firefighters and paramedics from Howard, Baltimore and Anne Arundel counties extinguished the blaze within 15 minutes. First responders were called to the 6200 block of Greenfield Road around noon, Howard fire officials said, where they found flames engulfing a fourth-floor balcony at the Penniman Park apartments . The fire extended from the apartment's exterior into its interior and roof, but was under control by 12:15 p.m. Other apartments were affected by residual smoke; however, fire officials said residents evacuated the building before they arrived. No resident or firefighter injuries were reported. Fire officials said the sprinkler head between the balcony and apartment's living area was activated and limited the damage.
