ST. LOUIS PARK, MN — A Minneapolis man is accused of selling the heroin which police say killed a man in St. Louis Park earlier this year. Zachary Gontard , 37, faces a third- degree murder charge . His bail was set at $50,000. According to the criminal complaint , St. Louis Park police were sent to an apartment on the 4300 block of Minnetonka Boulevard on May 23 where parents had gone to check on their son, whom they had not heard from in two days. Police found the 23-year-old victim lying on his bathroom floor and also found bindles of suspected heroin and hypodermic needles in the apartment. The autopsy found he died from a mix of heroin and fentanyl, according to a news release. DETROIT, MI — General Motors Co. started its car-sharing service, Maven, just over a year ago, placing Chevrolets and Cadillacs in New York apartment buildings for occupants to rent. Since then, the service has grown exponentially. Maven is still working with apartment dwellers, but it is also offering hourly and daily rental cars in 17 North American cities . It also offers Maven Gig , a service that lets people rent cars to do odd jobs, like ride-hailing for Lyft or delivering food for GrubHub. Maven Gig expanded into Los Angeles earlier this month; it's coming to Boston, Phoenix, Washington, Baltimore and Detroit this fall. Maven is now moving onto college campuses. This week, it became the exclusive car-share provider to the University of Southern California. NORTH CHARLESTON, SC — Two children were found with injuries inside a South Carolina apartment and later died, and now a man has been charged with attacking them, North Charleston police said. Officers were called to the Jamison Park apartment complex about 3 p.m. Monday when someone reported children were trapped inside an apartment with a man, police spokesman Spencer Pryor said. The caller had been attacked and locked out of the apartment, police said. The suspect fled before officers arrived . Two children were found and been attacked, police said. They later died. Their names were not released. About five hours later, officers arrested Raashid Jaamal White , 26, and charged him with two counts of murder. It was not known whether he has an attorney. INDIANAPOLIS, IN — Indianapolis Fire Department crews had a busy Thursday morning fighting two fires, one at an East Washington Street apartment and the other at a Bates Street residence , according to Indianapolis Fire Department Battalion Chief Rita Reith . Reith said IFD crews were dispatched just before 2 a.m. and arrived to 5824 E. Washington Street to light smoke showing on the third floor, from a vacant apartment #26. Reith said 16 IFD units were dispatched, getting the flames was under control at 2:01 a.m. According to a release, there were no injuries, however damage is estimated at $16,000. Nearly two-thirds of renters, about 64%, plan to settle down in a different city, according to an Apartment List report . So where do they want to go? WASHINGTON, DC — A man has been arrested for murdering his 81-year-old mother in her Northeast Washington apartment Saturday , police said. At about 10:45 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 5200 block of 4th Street, NE., for the report of a domestic violence assault . Responding officers located an adult female — later identified as Anne Alredia Cook of Northeast — suffering from multiple sharp and blunt force injuries , police said. Cook was taken to an area hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The victim's son — Derek Norman Cook, 51, of Northeast DC — was arrested and charged Sunday with first degree murder while armed, police said. NEWPORT, RI— Police broke up a crowd in a Park Holm parking lot early Monday morning and arrested five suspects. Kyrel L. Perry, 19, of Providence; David P. Herbermann, 26, of South Kingstown; Shaquille Hall, 23, of Providence; and Devante M. Hall, 19, of Newport were charged with Disorderly Conduct. Kendall L. Maloney, 29, of Tiverton, was charged with Violating a no contact order. According to the police report, around 1:40 a.m., officers were called for a crowd of disorderly people at 2 Park Holm. Between 20 and 25 people were in the parking lot. Some were running away as police arrived. Maloney's family was standing by his car and angry because some people had shattered his windshield. ARLINGTON, VA — An Arlington man has been arrested for Wednesday morning's shooting on South Frederick Street that left one man seriously injured. Nicholas Nichols, 24, was arrested and charged with Aggravated Malicious Wounding , Possession of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
