Authorities believe a custody dispute amid a disintegrating marriage triggered a murder-suicide in South Carolina earlier this summer, after 36-year-old Jessica Edens shot and killed the woman whom she believed was her estranged husband ’s girlfriend. Edens then killed her two young children and, finally, shot herself, according to police. She left behind a scathing suicide note for her spouse. Here are four things to know about the tragedy. 1. Edens’ Spree Began with Husband’s Suspected Girlfriend On July 13, police believe Edens fatally shot 28 -year-old Meredith Leigh Rahme at a parking garage at Rhame’s apartment complex in Greenville, South Carolina, before fleeing the scene in her Jeep. Greenville Police Chief Ken Miller said Edens believed Rahme was dating her husband, Benjamin Edens , who had reportedly filed for divorce from her after their separation in April. But officials later said Ben and Rahme were co-workers and described them as acquaintances. According to auth...

According to the Wichita Falls Police Department , 17-year-old Brandon Rojas has died from a gunshot injury Monday . Authorities are trying to determine what led to the shooting Monday afternoon at Cedar Creek Apartments in the 1500 block of Trigg Lane. Around 3:30 p.m. police were called to an apartment there in relation to a possible shooting. When officers arrived authorities say they found Rojas with a gunshot wound. Rojas was taken to United Regional, investigators are also not saying if this is an accidental or intentional shooting.  

× Missing woman discovered dead at Woodcrest Apartments identified MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Authorities have identified the missing woman found dead at the Woodcrest Apartments this past week. According to authorities they have positively identified the deceased as 31-year-old Sulema Luna Tornez . WREG was on the scene at 170 North Hollywood Tuesday night as officers combed through an apartment searching for clues. They said they received a call to the location after someone spotted something or someone suspicious in the area. When officers arrived on the scene, they discovered Tornez dead with multiple stab wounds . Tornez was reported missing sometime before her body was discovered. Authorities have not released any suspect information at this time. They do believe the suspect and the victim knew each other. This is the 10th homicide of the year. A Florida woman was arrested after she told police that she left a little boy in the care of a homeless baby-sitter because she needed to make a quick trip out of town. Tampa Police were called to an apartment building near Busch Gardens following reports that a child was outside unattended. When officers arrived they found a 2-year-old boy sitting outside an apartment door with a blanket, sippy cup and half-eaten Lunchable, a police report states . When deputies went inside the apartment, they found a computer mouse with an attached cord tied to a bedroom door to keep it secure. Authorities said the door had enough space for a small child to get in and out. Inside the bedroom was a cheese snack, a jug of iced tea, a Gatorade and pull-up diapers. After the third homicide in three days in Columbus, a crowd spilled into the street on Fourth Avenue Tuesday before a police standoff ended with a suspect in custody. Tamir Harris, 33, of Columbus was pronounced dead on the scene at 11:06 a.m. near 35th Street, said Muscogee County Deputy Coroner Charles Newton . His body will be transported to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime lab in Decatur for an autopsy. The woman was screaming, the neighbor told a 911 dispatcher, and the naked man with his arm around her neck kept beating her. A 61-year-old man died after a fire was reported at the Manhattan Apartments on Saturday morning , authorities said. An alarm sounded in one of the apartments at about 7:50 a.m. Saturday, according to information from the Oak Ridge Fire Department that was provided by City of Oak Ridge spokesperson Sarah Self. Oak Ridge Police Department officers found heavy smoke inside the apartment when they arrived Saturday morning , and the Oak Ridge Fire Department was dispatched. Nearby residents were evacuated while  firefighters made entry to the apartment and extinguished the fire. A man was found inside, the city said. “Crews removed the victim and immediately began life -saving measures,” the ORFD said. “The victim was then transported by Anderson County EMS to Methodist Medical Center , where he was pronounced dead.” The man has been identified as Michael McAlister, age 61, of Oak Ridge.
