Man reportedly rapes, beats woman as kids sleep nearby
A neighbor watched as a barely clothed woman was dragged by her neck early Friday into a Lake Worth-area apartment. The woman was screaming, the neighbor told a 911 dispatcher, and the naked man with his arm around her neck kept beating her.
Inside the home, Edwin Jairo Calle Jr. had raped, hit and demeaned the woman while her two kids slept nearby, Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office records indicate.

The 21-year-old Wellington man seemingly had no qualms about telling sheriff’s authorities he’d climbed through the woman’s kitchen window because he wanted to have sex with her.
He knew a judge had ordered that he stay away from the woman and her home — records redacted the location, but officers from PBSO’s Lake Worth district headquarters responded to the incident — for the next year.
But he didn’t care, or so sheriff’s office records indicate.
The woman detailed for detectives how she’d woken up at about 1 a.m. Friday to a cellphone light shining near the bed she was sharing with her kids.
Calle was standing naked next to the bed touching himself, the woman told authorities. She told him to leave but he refused. Instead he forced her to change into a thong and dragged her by the hair to the bathroom.
“Let’s go,” he reportedly told her. “Unless you want me to get rough for real.”
There he hit the woman, raped her and ordered her to perform sexual acts on him, the woman said.
“Take it, or it’s going to get worse,” Calle reportedly told her.
Then he insisted the woman put on a particular pair of shorts. As they went to grab them, Calle stopped to tend to the woman’s baby, who’d woken up. That gave the woman enough time to run out of the apartment and bang on neighbors’ doors.
Calle followed and dragged her by her neck back into the apartment where he continued the sexual abuse.
“Now look what you did to yourself,” he reportedly screamed when they made it back inside. “Now I’m going to beat your (expletive).”

When sheriff’s authorities arrived, Calle jumped from the second-story window in front of a K-9 deputy. He ran, despite the deputy’s orders to stop, and the K-9 detained him.
He was taken to a hospital for his injuries before being booked into the Palm Beach County Jail on rape, burglary, kidnapping and battery charges.
He is being held there without the possibility of bond.
Court records indicate Calle tried to rape the woman in July at the Lake Worth Tri-Rail parking lot. She’d agreed to give him a ride to the station but along the way he’d told her “you deserve to get raped and I am going to rape you again.”
She got away because she hit her car horn and a passerby noticed them fighting. The battery case against Calle from that July incident remains open, according to court records.
