T wo weeks ago, a Manhattan Supreme Court judge handed down a decision designed to strike fear in the hearts of landlords. Justice James d’Auguste ordered that an independent receiver be appointed to manage two Midtown residential buildings where the landlords allegedly allowed illegal Airbnb rentals to occur. The case, which began when the city sued the landlords in February 2015, has become one of the battlegrounds in a larger war between city enforcement agencies and short- term rental sites like Airbnb. Airbnb, which was recently valued at $31 billion, refuses to release the exact addresses of hosts who break the law by renting their entire apartment for less than 30 days without being present. Described as black males wearing black clothing and masks, the suspects used a firearm and demanded money from the resident before fleeing. JAMESTOWN, N.Y. (WIVB) – Five people were arrested Tuesday afternoon following a search warrant execution at a Bush Street basement apartment . The Jamestown Metro Drug Task Force and New York State Police Community Narcotics Enforcement Team executed the search warrant at an apartment at 20 Bush St. at 1:45 p.m. Tuesday, following an investigation which revealed that the apartment was being used for the sales and trafficking of crystal meth. Entry was gained to the location with the assistance of the Jamestown Police SWAT Team . Multiple people were found inside the residence, as well as two small children. Law enforcement officials also found a quantity of crystal meth inside of the apartment. The following people were charged: Jeffrey M. Remington man arrested for alleged stabbing | News

Law-enforcement officials are investigating an alleged stabbing at a Remington apartment complex that took reportedly took place last night. Around 7 p.m. on July 26, Fauquier County Sheriff ’s Office deputies responded to the Fauquier Hospital emergency room for reports of a 25-year-old man suffering a stab wound to his arm. The man told deputies he was stabbed in the arm during an altercation at the Remington Garden Apartments in the 400 block of North Church Street An investigation resulted in the arrest of Michael Dean Turner , 38, of Remington, said Sgt. James Hartman, public information officer for the sheriff’s office. Turner was charged with malicious wounding. He is being held at the Fauquier County Jail and is scheduled to appear in Fauquier County General District Court on Sept. 6.
