Sacramento police release video of controversial encounter with pregnant woman

Sacramento police on Thursday released body -camera images from a controversial encounter last month in which an officer grabbed the arm of a pregnant woman who moments later fell to the ground. The department released a statement saying officials decided to post the dramatic and, at times, profane video, which is broken into four clips, on YouTube because they’re dedicated to transparency. On July 9, a police license - plate reader detected a stolen vehicle, according to the statement, and officers soon found the car and detained a female driver. But police then began looking for a male suspect, who they say had an outstanding warrant and was last seen at an apartment complex in northern Sacramento . Officers eventually went to the complex and spotted a man who police say closely matched the suspect’s description seated outside the apartments. Police said the man ran inside and locked the door. Blotter: Theft suspect runs from police who were to serve arrest warrants | News

The theft charge, a state jail felony , stems from an offense July 11. The burglary charge, a second-degree felony, is connected to video surveillance footage that shows Andersen walking up to a Southridge resident's garage on Monday morning in the 1100 block of Chapel Drive. Police said he entered the resident's garage, hopped in an unlocked 2017 Chevy Cruze and drove away.  Police found the car hours later in the same neighborhood but couldn't locate the suspect.   At about 10:30 a.m. Friday, police drove to a Southridge home in the 800 block of Sandpiper Drive to arrest him on the two active warrants. But Anderson fled on foot when officers confronted him, running through driveways and backyards throughout the neighborhood, according to witness accounts.  Department spokesman Bryan Cose said it's unclear whether the man lived in the neighborhood. Two Men Arrested in the City for Alleged Narcotics Trafficking | News

WILLIAMSPORT -- Two men were arrested and committed to Lycoming County Prison on Saturday, August 19, after police raided an apartment on Glenwood Avenue and found marijuana , traces of heroin and paraphernalia. According to an affidavit by a Williamsport Bureau of Police officer, he was patrolling the 400 block of Glenwood Avenue, a known narcotics trafficking area , around 10:46 a.m. The officer noticed a gray Dodge Charger rental car with a Georgia license plate parked in front of an apartment building known for narcotics trafficking. The officer had observed the vehicle driving through the 700 block of Center Street, also a known narcotics area, moments before. The caller said the highly- intoxicated man , wearing all black with a ponytail and beard, was told not to return to the bar months ago . He was now attempting to fight with employees. An arriving officer discovered the man left the bar and stumbled towards nearby apartments. That's where the police found the man who kept falling into garage doors. When told about the Niko's incident, the man said, "That was months ago." Inmate, deputy hurt at Calhoun County jail during suicide attempt

Calhoun County Sheriff Department logo (Photo: Provided) WOMAN, DEPUTY INJURED: An inmate and a deputy were injured in the Calhoun County jail when the inmate fell from a second-story tier in an apparent suicide attempt . Sheriff's deputies reported the incident at 9:16 a.m. and said the inmate, 45, climbed over a security railing about 12 feet above the floor below, according to Sheriff Matt Saxton . The inmate was drinking a nontoxic cleaning solution before she let go of the railing and fell backward. Tosha Cummings, a corrections officer, attempted to catch the woman and break her fall and she was knocked back, hitting her head on a table and then the floor. Both women were taken to Bronson Battle Creek for treatment and released. Cummings is expected to return to work in a couple of days, Saxton said.
