A 28-year-old Dartmouth man is facing charges after police say he threatened to kill officers with a knife. In a news release, police say officers saw a man walking down the middle of Pinecrest Drive in Dartmouth, “yelling and screaming,” just before 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The officers recognized the man and knew he had a warrant out for failing to appear in court. Police say they tried to stop him, and he ran into an apartment building on Jackson Road. At the apartment building, police asked the man through the door to come out, telling him they had an arrest warrant.  “At this time the man threatened to kill officers with a knife,” the news release says. Without knowing whether the man actually had a knife, police “set back at a safe distance and set up containment." “The man continued to yell death threats at officers,” police say. Members of the Halifax Regional Police Emergency Response Team were called in to help after a man barricaded himself in an apartment at 14 Jackson Rd. in Dartmouth on Monday. Police say that just before 4:30 p.m., officers saw a man walking down the middle of Pinecrest Drive yelling and screaming. They recognized him as someone having a warrant out for his arrest for failing to appear in court. When the officers tried to stop the man he ran into the apartment building, so they went to the unit he was in and asked through the door to come out, police said in a release. Police allege that the man threatened to kill the officers with a knife, at which point the emergency response team was contacted. At 9 p.m., police had obtained a warrant to enter and search the apartment and slid it under the door. The man came out a couple minutes later. Tulsa police said they tried to stop the man for a traffic violation around 6:45 p.m. in the 1100 block of North Harvard. They said the vehicle backed up and almost hit the officer's car and sped away south on Harvard. The officer was able to catch up to the vehicle as it turned west on East Admiral and continued to the on-ramp to I-244 at 2700 East Admiral.
