Man barricades himself in Dartmouth apartment

Members of the Halifax Regional Police Emergency Response Team were called in to help after a man barricaded himself in an apartment at 14 Jackson Rd. in Dartmouth on Monday. Police say that just before 4:30 p.m., officers saw a man walking down the middle of Pinecrest Drive yelling and screaming. They recognized him as someone having a warrant out for his arrest for failing to appear in court. When the officers tried to stop the man he ran into the apartment building, so they went to the unit he was in and asked through the door to come out, police said in a release. Police allege that the man threatened to kill the officers with a knife, at which point the emergency response team was contacted. At 9 p.m., police had obtained a warrant to enter and search the apartment and slid it under the door. The man came out a couple minutes later. Firefighters leave apartment fire after reports of possibly armed suspect

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) - Firefighters were forced to leave an apartment fire Friday afternoon after being informed of a possibly armed man in the unit. At 4 p.m., the Clark County Fire Department received 911 calls reporting a balcony on fire at the Copper Creek Apartments located at 9490 S. Bermuda Road, near Richmar Avenue.  Upon arrival fire crews found smoke coming from the balcony of a second floor apartment .  Firefighters quickly made access through the locked apartment door and were able to extinguish the bulk of the fire when they were informed that a man was barricaded in the apartment and possibly armed with a weapon. Firefighters retreated from the area leaving all their equipment behind and began evacuating bystanders to a safe location out of the line of sight of the apartment. One person was arrested and another rushed to the hospital in critical condition following a shooting and standoff in Spring Valley overnight . San Diego County Sheriff ’s Deputies surrounded one of the units in the Lakeview Village Apartments just before 11 p.m. Tuesday. The apartment complex is located along Sweetwater Springs Boulevard near Loma Elementary School and across the street from Monte Vista High School . Deputies had received multiple calls of shots fired, including one from a woman inside who says it started with some kind of argument.
