A Felton woman has become the second victim of a deadly fire that swept the Woodcrest Arms apartment complex June 6 . Jeff Brown, News Editor A second victim of the June 6 fire at Woodcrest Arms apartment complex has died. Christina Lynn Taylor , 33, of Cedar Grove Church Road , Felton, died the afternoon of June 7 while at Crozier Chester Burn Center , Chester, Pa., said Dover Police Capt . Tim Stump. Taylor and her boyfriend had been at the apartments to help a relative move, Stump said. The boyfriend, whose name was not released, was still at the burn center, where he had been taken with life-threatening injuries after the fire. Stump also identified the first victim of the blaze as Jacqueline Wuest, 61. Wuest’s body was found in her third- floor apartment during an initial sweep of the building. SPOKANE, Wash. – Spokane fire crews responded to a fire at the Greentree Apartment Complex in Browne’s Addition Friday afternoon . Spokane Fire Department Chief of Operations Mark John said crews arrived on scene and saw heavy smoke and fire on the third floor of the complex. Crews also saw residents quickly exiting the building as the fire continued to burn. All occupants escaped the complex with no reported injuries. John said the fire was under control within 20 minutes. The cause and origin of the fire are still under investigation. Investigators confirmed three apartments on the third floor were affected by the fire and deemed uninhabitable. The American Red Cross will be assisting the four adults who have been displaced. John pointed out ventilation holes were a major feat for crews to dissipate the fire.  © 2017 KREM-TV

COLLEGE PARK, MD (WUSA9) - A huge fire that caused close to $40 million worth of damage to a College Park apartment building might have been an accident, according to officials. A spokesperson with the Prince George's County Fire and EMS Department said they are leaning toward the cause of the Fuse 47 fire as being accidental. However, he added there is still more investigating that is needed before an exact cause can be determined. Right now, the investigation has to wait for all of the fire to be put out inside the structure before anyone can safely go inside. LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - People at a Lexington apartment complex are okay after an early morning fire on Wednesday. It happened around 2 a.m. on Fontaine Road off of Richmond Road. Firefighters say a charcoal grill spilled last night on a second-floor deck. The tenants thought it was cleaned up and the fire was out, but the fire continued to smolder overnight. Firefighters say a deck is not the right place for a grill. Officials say no one was hurt or displaced.

T wo weeks ago, a Manhattan Supreme Court judge handed down a decision designed to strike fear in the hearts of landlords. Justice James d’Auguste ordered that an independent receiver be appointed to manage two Midtown residential buildings where the landlords allegedly allowed illegal Airbnb rentals to occur. The case, which began when the city sued the landlords in February 2015, has become one of the battlegrounds in a larger war between city enforcement agencies and short- term rental sites like Airbnb. Airbnb, which was recently valued at $31 billion, refuses to release the exact addresses of hosts who break the law by renting their entire apartment for less than 30 days without being present. The Sedalia Rental Inspection Committee continued to nail down details of the inspector training program during Wednesday night’s meeting. The committee has spent the last several meetings deciding the details of the city offering a certification program. The idea is to have a city- sponsored class offered to citizens wanting to become a rental inspector . Those who complete the course would be included on an approved list given to landlords. Landlords would choose their own inspector from the list to complete the proposed rental inspections . Daniel Shaw, of the Sedalia Fire Department , has been leading the discussions on the inspector certification program , as he will most likely be conducting the course.
