Firefighters respond to Sunchase Apartments

HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) -- Crews responded to a fire at a Harrisonburg apartment complex just after 4 p.m. Sunday. A large air conditioning unit was burning. Fire crews said folks at the Sunchase Apartments were lucky. That's because the vinyl siding was too high for flames to get to. This allowed fire crews to put the flames out with minimal damage. The Harrisonburg Fire Dept . told us they don't know exactly what caused the fire. At this time they are calling it an "AC malfunction."

Tenants Return To Renovated Billings Forge Complex In Hartford

Renovations are complete on 113 units at the sprawling Billings Forge complex , where tenants returned to find fresh paint , new appliances and soaring windows. The monthslong effort to upgrade the apartments, hallways and lobby in the former mill building on Broad Street concluded this year. New kitchens, bathrooms, doors and windows were installed in the apartments, and modern appliances were added. New flooring was laid in the hallways, and the lobby received a face-lift. The $19. 8 million project , backed by a mix of state funds, federal and state tax credits , low income historic tax credits and aid from the Connecticut Housing Finance Authority , took about 19 months to finish. The mixed- income complex is 95 percent full, officials said, and is in the process of accepting new tenants. One hundred and two of its units are deemed “affordable hou...

Carl Larson moved from a home in Hebron to his two-bedroom apartment at Autumn Chase 10 years ago where he continues to enjoy his retirement. Autumn Chase was his first stop while on his apartment hunt and he continued comparison shopping in Vernon and Manchester. He returned to Autumn Chase when he could not find anything as attractive. "I really liked the layout of the facility here, and as I looked at other apartments, I liked it more and more," says Larson. Autumn Chase apartment buildings are set back a comfortable distance from West Road in Ellington and are buffered by an expansive green space that includes a pond with a fountain and a small wetland lined with cattails. The complex includes several more ponds, a wel...
