ARLINGTON, VA — An Arlington man has been arrested for Wednesday morning's shooting on South Frederick Street that left one man seriously injured. Nicholas Nichols, 24, was arrested and charged with Aggravated Malicious Wounding , Possession of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. The shooting happened at about 7:04 a.m. in the 1000 block of South Frederick St ., near Columbia Grove apartments , police said. The investigation determined that the shooting occurred after an altercation between known acquaintances. Arriving officers located a 26-year-old male victim suffering from a gunshot wound and transported him to George Washington University Hospital . A two- alarm fire tore through an apartment building in Delran, Burlington County on Wednesday morning. The first call for help went out just after 8:30 a.m., officials said, and firefighters responded to the fire, at Hunters Glen Apartments , on the 3000 block of Route 130. The fire reached two alarms by 9 a.m. Video from SkyForce10 showed heavy flames and smoke engulfing one of the buildings at the complex. Firefighters remained at the complex after 9 a.m. battling the blaze. PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A 2- alarm fire injured 2 people and displaced 23 at a Washington County apartment complex Wednesday morning . The fire started on a second floor deck of the Commons at Timber Creek Apartments in the 12000 block of NW Barnes Road , Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue officials told KOIN 6 News . The flames went up to the third floor, where a man was forced to jump. He was seriously injured and taken to a hospital for treatment. Another person was injured but not seriously. Officials believe the fire may have started in a BBQ grill. Authorities said it took about 2 hours to completely extinguish the fire and hot spots. Ten of the 20 units are not habitable due to water and smoke damage, and a total of 23 people — including 3 children — are looking for a place to stay. Recycle. Reuse. Reduce. Reclaim. Cheryl Oliver is a true believer. Her husband, Jack, is not quite so sure. For Cheryl, there is no choice because she regards recycling as crucial for the survival of the planet. Jack said he gets it, but doesn’t think a few people can make any real difference. The house divided is a microcosm of communities when it comes to recycling. Cheryl believes everyone should do their part, while Jack believes that since not everyone is doing their part, why should he? “The problem with recycling is that most people don’t do it or won’t do it,” Jack said. “I think it’s mostly due to people being plain lazy.” Jack has a point – recycling takes more effort than just throwing everything into the same trash can.
