Crowd spills into street after third homicide in three days

After the third homicide in three days in Columbus, a crowd spilled into the street on Fourth Avenue Tuesday before a police standoff ended with a suspect in custody. Tamir Harris, 33, of Columbus was pronounced dead on the scene at 11:06 a.m. near 35th Street, said Muscogee County Deputy Coroner Charles Newton . His body will be transported to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime lab in Decatur for an autopsy. The victim, 52, was rushed to UPMC Hamot after Wesleyville police encountered her at Coney Island Lunch , 3015 Buffalo Road , when officers were called there on a report of a stabbing victim on Thursday at about 11:50 p.m. Police said they saw the woman with a substantial cut to her neck-throat area that was bleeding profusely.
