Summit man charged with attempted homicide in Wesleyville attack - News - GoErie.com

Police accuse him of cutting a woman's throat at a Buffalo Road apartment late Thursday night.

Wesleyville police have charged a Summit Township man with critically injuring a borough woman when he cut her throat while they were in the woman's apartment late Thursday night.

The victim, 52, was rushed to UPMC Hamot after Wesleyville police encountered her at Coney Island Lunch, 3015 Buffalo Road, when officers were called there on a report of a stabbing victim on Thursday at about 11:50 p.m. Police said they saw the woman with a substantial cut to her neck-throat area that was bleeding profusely.

The woman was in critical condition at the hospital on Friday, according to police.

Her accused attacker, 46-year-old Summit Township resident Christopher R. Beausoleil, was apprehended by Pennsylvania State Police at about 2:20 a.m. Friday when troopers who were pursuing him stopped Beausoleil's truck on Interstate 79, just north of the McKean exit. Beausoleil was later arraigned by North East District Judge Scott Hammer on charges of attempted homicide, possessing instruments of crime, aggravated assault, recklessly endangering and driving under the influence.

Hammer placed Beausoleil in the Erie County Prison on $500,000 bond and tentatively set his preliminary hearing for Sept. 1.

The woman told Wesleyville police officers who encountered her at Coney Island, which is located across Buffalo Road from her apartment, that she was cut with an unknown sharp object by "Chris." Police learned from the victim's roommate that Chris was Beausoleil, and that Beausoleil and the victim were the only ones in the apartment when the roommate left to go to the Country Fair to get money so they could buy beer, according to information in the affidavit of probable cause that Wesleyville police Patrolman Robert Buzanowski filed with the criminal complaint against Beausoleil.

Police found blood leading from the victim's bedroom, out of the apartment, across Buffalo Road and directly to Coney Island, investigators wrote in the affidavit.

Beausoleil fled the area in a white 2010 Ford F-150 pickup. State Police began pursuing it a short time later, investigators said.

Beausoleil was taken to Saint Vincent Health Center for blood testing following his apprehension, according to the affidavit.
