Man Arrested In Arlington Shooting: Police

ARLINGTON, VA — An Arlington man has been arrested for Wednesday morning's shooting on South Frederick Street that left one man seriously injured. Nicholas Nichols, 24, was arrested and charged with Aggravated Malicious Wounding , Possession of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. The shooting happened at about 7:04 a.m. in the 1000 block of South Frederick St ., near Columbia Grove apartments , police said. The investigation determined that the shooting occurred after an altercation between known acquaintances. Arriving officers located a 26-year-old male victim suffering from a gunshot wound and transported him to George Washington University Hospital . The man sustained serious but non- life threatening injuries , police said. ARLINGTON, Va. - (AP) - A Virginia man returned home from a trip and found that his apartment had been broken into - and cleaned. Arlington County Police say in a crime report that shortly after 12 a.m. Monday, a man returned to his Arlington apartment after a trip. He called police when he noticed that his apartment appeared to have been cleaned and some items had been moved around. Nothing was missing.                WRC-TV reports the man told police he doesn't employ a maid. Police say the mystery cleaner unlawfully entered the apartment. (Copyright 2017 The Associated Press. Crime: Gun stolen from unlocked car; other break-ins on same street

A gun was stolen from an unlocked vehicle overnight Saturday , and two other vehicle break-ins were reported along the same street, according to Greenville Police Department case reports . A Greenville man reported Sunday that his vehicle had been broken into, and a  Springfield Armory XDM .40 caliber handgun, valued at $500, and two handgun magazines with 26 .40 caliber rounds, valued at $575, were stolen. The theft reportedly occurred between 8:30 p.m. on Saturday and 6 a.m. on Sunday in the 2900 block of Cedar Creek Road . Police spokeswoman Kristen Hunter said the doors were left unlocked. The case remains under investigation. Officers are looking into whether the case might be linked to two other vehicle break-ins that occurred during the weekend on the same street, according to Hunter. The other two cases also occurred in the 1900 block of Cedar Creek. Nothing was stolen and there was no damage to the vehicle in an incident that occurred between 11 p.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m....
