Resident reports car stolen: Fairview Park Police Blotter
FAIRVIEW PARK, Ohio - Theft, Fairlawn Circle:A resident reported her car was stolen sometime between Aug. 1 and Aug. 7. She had a flat tire and parked in Lawn Village Apartments Aug. 1. She went on vacation later that day, not having obtained permission from the apartment management. Her car was gone when she returned. The car was not repossessed or towed out by the apartment management.
Fraud, Sherwood Drive: On Aug. 7 a resident reported an unauthorized $5,000 withdrawal from her bank account and also unauthorized transfer of funds from a home equity line of credit. The bank is investigating.
Fraud, West 226th Street: On Aug. 8 a resident reported fraudulent activity on a debit card totaling nearly $200 in 4 separate transactions. The card has been cancelled.
Fraud, Westgate: On Aug. 9 Kay Jewelers employees reported fraudulent purchases made on a customer's account, totaling nearly $8,000. The account was opened in another store and a man later came into the Westgate store making several purchases. The man was able to provide all the identification information and had, what appeared to be, a valid ID. Further investigation found that the same identity had been used to open fraudulent use credit lines at another jewelry store, Nordstrom and Saks 5th Avenue, totaling more than $16,000. Detectives are awaiting video footage. The person whose identity was compromised is from Chicago.
