NEW ORLEANS (AP) — New Orleans police say a woman accused in a killing nearly two years ago has been arrested in Houston.

Police say in a news release that Harris County, Texas, sheriff's deputies arrested 24-year-old Shanta Massey on Sunday. The arrest came after New Orleans investigators learned she was in a Houston apartment complex.

Police say they have a warrant for her arrest in the shooting of 25-year-old Jeren Johnson.

Johnson was a passenger in a Nissan Altima that ran into a parked Ford truck on Dec. 6, 2015. Investigators found that the car's driver was wounded and Johnson was dead.

Police say the warrant accuses Massey of second-degree murder, which would mean an automatic life sentence if she's charged and convicted.
