Firefighters battle east Charlotte apartment fire

Charlotte firefighters say no one was injured in an apartment fire that was ignited about 6:45 a.m. Thursday off Farm Pond Lane in north Charlotte.

It happened at the Summit Ridge Apartments at 5900 block of Farm Pond Lane. The Observer’s news partner WBTV said at least 12 units were evacuated.

The cause of the fire was still being investigated, and it was unclear Thursday how many people were without homes.

Firefighters reported seeing smoke and fire on arrival, but they quickly controlled the blaze. A damage estimate was not available early.

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. - Miami- Dade County Judge Mindy Glazer set a $300, 000 bond Wednesday for a man who is accused of molesting a 6-year-old girl earlier this year at the pool at her apartment complex.
