Woman trapped under vehicle after attempting to flee police | TheCabin.net

A high-speed chase ended when the woman who allegedly fled police last week became pinned under her vehicle after attempting to abandon the vehicle and escape on foot.

Chief Deputy Matt Rice said 33-year-old Carmon Michelle Snowden of Damascus was booked in the county jail after being treated for non-life-threatening injuries at Conway Regional Medical Center.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Snowden led deputies on a high-speed chase through Conway that ended at the Westlake Apartments on Hogan Lane on Aug. 10. She was booked in the county jail early Friday morning.

An undercover investigator was driving along Lower Ridge Road when he noticed Snowden, who had a pending warrant in one of his active narcotics investigations, walking in a parking lot. The affidavit states deputies attempted to stop Snowden after she left the area in a green Toyota Highlander but she didn’t pull over.

“[The investigator] heard radio traffic of the pursuit through the city of Conway which eventually ended at Westlake Apartments on Hogan,” the affidavit reads. “[The investigator] heard that Snowden had reached speeds over 90 mph, and had almost hit other cars head on in opposite lanes during the pursuit.”

A deputy involved in the pursuit noted there were families out and about at the apartment complex when Snowden allegedly drove through recklessly.

“Once on scene [a deputy] informed [the investigator] that he almost called the pursuit off due to Snowden driving through the lawn area of the apartments where adults and kids were present,” the affidavit states. “[The deputy] stated that Snowden attempted to exit the vehicle while in motion, and the vehicle then ran over Snowden.”

Rice said it was unclear how fast Snowden was going when she abandoned the vehicle.

“[Snowden’s vehicle] was not in park and she was pinned under the front driver tire when [deputies] caught up to her,” Rice said of the pursuit, noting Snowden suffered from road rash and other possible minor injuries following the incident.

Police noted finding suspected liquid methamphetamine, syringes and a shotgun in the vehicle after Snowden was pulled from underneath it.

Snowden, who is charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of firearms by certain persons, fleeing and theft by receiving, is currently being held in the county jail in lieu of a $10,000 bond. She is set to appear in Faulkner County Circuit Court at 9 a.m. Aug. 28 for a plea and arraignment hearing.
