Want to rent this two-level penthouse apartment on Manhattan's 5th Avenue near Central Park? It'll set you back US$100k per month.
Manhattan's Central Park is surrounded by opulent apartment buildings, and 988 Fifth Avenue is known as one of the Upper East Side's most exclusive addresses.
In fact, actress-turned-princess Grace Kelly called the building home for a few years.
The 1925 14-floor building was designed in an Italian Renaissance-palazzo-style and had just one apartment per floor. But decades later, Italian businessman Pier Guerci created a new, two-level penthouse.

The apartment building is on the Upper East Side, and although it's not super-huge at 353 square metres, it's got some impressive amenities.
He told New York Magazinethat he discovered "nine small, derelict maid's rooms on a Fifth Avenue rooftop overlooking Central Park" back in 2004.
He promptly purchased the property – for half a million dollars – and set about transforming the group of rooms into a 353-square-metre pied-à-terre.

All the rooms open out to wrap-around terraces with amazing views of Central Park and the city.
And he's renting it out for US$100,000 (NZ$138,000) a month.
The listing compares the experience to hotel living, and while the level of services and perks – from a 23-square-metre cashmere-upholstered dressing room, two wrap-around terraces, an outdoor bar, spa, guest suites, weekly flowers and laundry service just for starters – certainly match that of any five-star hotel, the breath-taking views from every corner are more like a first-class seat on an international flight.
The opulent corner living room has amazing views of adjacent Central Park and the skyline; also on this level are the kitchen and formal dining room. The landscaped terrace can be accessed from every room.

The apartment is owned by an Italian businessman, who created the space out of nine smaller rooms that once were maids' quarters.
Rounding out the main level is the master suite, complete with the aforementioned cashmere-upholstered closets. (We just can't say it enough: there's cashmere on the walls, and inside the closets themselves.)
That super-soft-looking blue fabric on the closet doors? It's cashmere, and there's more inside.
Upstairs, two more guest rooms also open a spectacular wrap-around terrace with views that place all of New York City at your feet.
If you should tire of the view, the terraces are outfitted with an outdoor bar and covered pergola, three separate private outdoor showers, and "a small spa."
Yes, over $100k monthly outlay is substantial, but rest assured: it includes daily maid service including laundry and ironing, weekly fresh flowers, satellite TV, WiFi, electricity, and a gardener who maintains the outdoor spaces and landscaping. And should the power go out, the building has an emergency generator, so your champagne stays chilled and the hot tub will keep burbling nicely.

The galley-style kitchen is actually pretty big, by Manhattan-apartment standards.

The master suite is on the lower floor of the apartment. Like the other rooms, it opens to a wrap-around terrace.

The upper floor of the apartment has two guest bedroom suites. We love the view... not so sure about that lion painting, though.

This guest bedroom looks right over the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Here on the lower terrace, 'having drinks out on the deck' is taken to a whole other level.

The top floor has a terrace, too; and the tempered-glass floor panel allows natural light into the kitchen on the lower level.

The top-level terrace puts all of Central Park at your feet.

There are views across Central Park, to the buildings on the West Side, including the Museum of Natural History and the landmark Dakota Building.
