Top 10 Murder Victims Who Solved Their Own Murders

Image
Crime Lyra Radford August 9, 2017 The criminal justice system can be a bit tricky. Even if investigators think they know who committed a crime, they still have to be able to link a suspect to the scene without a shadow of a doubt. This is great for those wrongfully accused, but it’s downright infuriating when it helps the guilty get away with murder. Between stalled police investigations , poorly collected evidence , and subpar autopsy performances , the incompetence of the living can be enough to make the dead roll over in their graves. Or perhaps rise right up to solve their murder cases themselves. 10 The Ghost Of Fred Fisher Had To Point Out Where His Body Was In 1826, Australian farmer Frederick Fisher vanished . His shady neighbor, George Worrall , waved a big red flag when he suddenly remembered that his pal Fred had signed his entire farm over to George before mysteriously skipping town . Four months passed before the ghost of Fred Fisher had had enough of the whole charade a...

Battle Over Pesticide Pits Demand For Proof Against Precautions For Health

Claudia Angulo and her four children live in Orange Cove, California, a corner of Fresno County known for its citrus. She says when planes fly over the orange grove next to their apartment building and spray pesticides on the trees, she and her family experience headaches , exhaustion and difficulty breathing. But Angulo is concerned about an even more serious health problem in her 11-year-old son Isaac. When she was pregnant with him, she worked at a packing house, handling freshly picked citrus . After Isaac was born, Angulo says she noticed his development seemed slow and strange. “I saw that he didn’t play the same as other kids,” she says. “He didn’t learn the same.” She says his behavior was aggressive and antisocial. And she tells a story about the time he even threatened suicide — when he was only four years old. When he was five, a doctor diagnosed with him ADHD. Neo-Nazi group in the spotlight after deaths in Tampa

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - The friendship of the four young roommates — though cemented in the dark trappings of an obscure neo- Nazi group called Atomwaffen Division — never seemed destined for bloodshed. One was described as a former science nerd, serving in the Florida National Guard . Two others worked temp jobs at a recycling plant and talked about joining the military. The fourth caught flak from his roommates for wasting his days with video games. Now two of the young men are dead, the other two are in jail and authorities are left to answer this question: Was Atomwaffen Division plotting violent acts or were the four young men merely posers? RELATED | Tampa PD: Double homicide suspect killed roommates because they 'disrespected' his Muslim faith Four days after police say one of the roommates shot and killed two others, Atomwaffen posted an ominous video on YouTube depicting members standing with arms extended in “Heil Hitler” salutes and posing with guns in front of a ...

A Brief History of Traveling With Cats | Travel

Image
My three-year-old cat spends most of her time lounging by the window. It faces the high branches of the tree outside our apartment, and she stares intently out at the rusty- red wood thrushes and brown house sparrows that perch there; her eyes dilating when the occasional squirrel rustles the branches.  She’s a seventh-floor housecat who longs for the outdoors. But even if there was a feasible way of letting her go outside, I wouldn’t let her loose on native wildlife on her own (if you’re not familiar with the war being waged between cats and birds, my colleague Rachel Gross has chronicled it in all its gory detail here). So, as a compromise, last year I bought her a leash. After some initial hiccups, we have settled into a rhythm where I buckle her into her harness, scoop her up and carry her down to the soft grass adjacent to a nearby duck pond . There, I let her down, and her whims dictate our path. Often, people stare. Sometimes, they’re walking their dogs: big ones, small one...
