CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Authorities in North Carolina say they anticipate charging a 34-year-old woman with first-degree murder after a " domestic incident " on the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's campus left her 5-year-old son dead. Orange County District Attorney Jim Woodall says Ebony Oluwaseva, 34, will be charged with first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder. Mother suspect in fatal stabbing of boy at UNC Chapel Hill

CHAPEL HILL, NC (WTVD) — UNC Police are investigating after a domestic- violence incident left a 5-year-old boy dead and two adults with injuries Sunday at UNC’S Baity Hill family housing community . On Monday, authorities named the boy’s mother, 34-year-old Ebony Oluwasegva , as a suspect in the case. Charges have not been filed but are pending. They include murder and non-negligent manslaughter and attempted murder and non-negligent manslaughter. The incident report lists Victor Oluwasegva , 32, as another person involved in the incident. The violent episode happened in a single- family UNC housing residence Sunday about 12:10 a.m. Police said a knife was used in the attack. The two people injured were the parents of the child, UNC Police said. The child’s father was described as a UNC graduate student . She may also face charges of felony child abuse and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, Woodall said. Multiple media outlets report the violence occurred shortly after midnight Sunday in a single- family residence at the Baity Hill family housing community . The UNC website describes Baity Hill as an apartment complex that houses graduate students and student families. Authorities said a knife was used as the weapon in the violence, which also involved the child’s parents. They were taken to a hospital for treatment. Michigan State University welcomes 8,000 new students this fall

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Administrators at Michigan State University are expecting 8,000 first-year students to arrive on campus next week.  The class of 2021 is considered one of the largest in the school's history. Overall, MSU received 36 ,000 applications from prospective students, but only 8,000 were admitted. They will move onto campus Monday, with classes scheduled to begin Wednesday.  Nearly 16,000 students will be living on the East Lansing campus this academic year in residence halls and on- campus apartments . As in past years, a number of volunteers will be pitching in to help with move in, including other students, faculty, staff, alumni and community volunteers, according to a news released from the university.  More than 72 percent of new students are from Michigan, which the university said reflects its long- standing land grant tradition .
