OMAHA, Neb. (CNN) -- At a busy intersection in Omaha, Nebraska, passers-by are used to seeing people begging for money. But there's a new face on one of the corners. "He has a sign that says, get a job, but he doesn't know people's struggles," said Charles Smith, a panhandler. You can find Logan wherever there are panhandlers. His action spurred after seeing his own son asking for money on the street. "That is what really hurt me because i know that he didn't have to do that. New Orleans Dive Bars You've Got to Experience

Image
Short on amenities but long on lore, some of New Orleans’ most popular bars might be considered dives in other cities. But here, bars with storied pasts, the patina of good times had and the anything-goes vibe of a diverse clientele are regarded as hallowed ground for their regulars. They are found in old buildings that had previous lives as homes or corner stores which imbues them with the sort of authenticity you just don’t find in newer establishments. While such institutions are the stomping grounds of locals, visitors are universally welcome, whether you show up for a late- night music performance or drop in for a drink during the middle of the day. French Quarter Aunt Tiki’s:  Don’t let the name fool you; there are no umbrella drinks here. And don’t even think about ordering one, the bartender might toss you out. What you will find is a worn sofa, a well-stocked jukebox and extra-strong cocktails at hard-to-beat prices. Who needs mai tais?  Chart Room:  When this local landmark ...

White Sox prospect Jake Burger is becoming an adult one step at a time. On the field, Burger, the No. 12 prospect in the Sox’ farm system, seemingly has made a smooth transition to pro baseball. Off the field, the 6-2, 210-pound third baseman is living with six teammates in a three-bedroom apartment and sleeping on an air mattress in their living room. “The adjustment hasn’t been too terrible, especially on the field. I think the biggest adjustment has been the off-field stuff. You’re setting your own schedule,” Burger said before joking about his new living situation in Kannapolis, North Carolina. White Sox prospect Jake Burger hit a cycle on Thursday. | Paul Beaty/Associated Press Burger had a whopper of a game Thursday night , getting his first career cycle in the Kannapolis Intimidators’ 6-5 victory against the Greensboro Grasshoppers. Recycling: Some take it, others leave it | Local News

Recycle. Reuse. Reduce. Reclaim. Cheryl Oliver is a true believer. Her husband, Jack, is not quite so sure. For Cheryl, there is no choice because she regards recycling as crucial for the survival of the planet. Jack said he gets it, but doesn’t think a few people can make any real difference. The house divided is a microcosm of communities when it comes to recycling. Cheryl believes everyone should do their part, while Jack believes that since not everyone is doing their part, why should he? “The problem with recycling is that most people don’t do it or won’t do it,” Jack said. “I think it’s mostly due to people being plain lazy.” Jack has a point – recycling takes more effort than just throwing everything into the same trash can. There are people who might recycle but don’t because they simply don’t know how. With paper, plastic, aluminum, metal and a myriad of other color-coded options for recyclable material, deciding where each thing should go can be troublesome. ...
