Top 10 Murder Victims Who Solved Their Own Murders

Image
Crime Lyra Radford August 9, 2017 The criminal justice system can be a bit tricky. Even if investigators think they know who committed a crime, they still have to be able to link a suspect to the scene without a shadow of a doubt. This is great for those wrongfully accused, but it’s downright infuriating when it helps the guilty get away with murder. Between stalled police investigations , poorly collected evidence , and subpar autopsy performances , the incompetence of the living can be enough to make the dead roll over in their graves. Or perhaps rise right up to solve their murder cases themselves. 10 The Ghost Of Fred Fisher Had To Point Out Where His Body Was In 1826, Australian farmer Frederick Fisher vanished . His shady neighbor, George Worrall , waved a big red flag when he suddenly remembered that his pal Fred had signed his entire farm over to George before mysteriously skipping town . Four months passed before the ghost of Fred Fisher had had enough of the whole charade a...

Hurricane Harvey, Shavon Randle case, Confederate monument task force: Your Friday morning roundup | Newsletters

Dallas mayor's Confederate monuments task force has mixed feelings on statues' future Dallas sculptor Barvo Walker adores the statue of Gen. Robert E. Lee that overlooks Turtle Creek Boulevard . And it has nothing to do with Lee. "It is one of the finest equestrian statues in the country," said Walker, referring to Traveller, Lee's horse. And for that one reason alone, said Walker, he would like to see the statue "kept where it is because it's such a marvelous piece of art." Walker will actually have a say in the statue's fate. He is among the 20 members appointed to Mayor Mike Rawlings ' Task Force on Confederate Monuments unveiled Thursday . Walker will be joined by, among others, an architect, a professor and multiple attorneys, preservationists and a handful of religious leaders. A majority of the City Council has made it clear they want the monuments to come down -- preferably sooner than later. But several members of the task force sa...

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — The NYPD says a 74-year-old woman using a walker was attacked by a man who they say tried to rape her in the Bronx. It happened Friday night inside an apartment building near East 161st Street and Park Avenue in the Morrisania section of the borough. Investigators say the woman unknowingly followed the suspect into an elevator. In surveillance video, her walker is visible behind the man, who appears to be talking on a cell phone. (credit: NYPD) Police said the victim knew something was wrong when the man followed her off the elevator on the 11th floor, asking him if he lived in the building. As she approached her apartment door, police said the man attacked, putting her in a choke hold in the hallway. Police said he groped the woman before she was able to bang on a neighbor’s door for help. Investigators say it was the neighbor’s screams that sent the suspect running. Throughout the attack, the woman asked, “why me, why are you doing this,” but he never gave...

by Rachel Mazanec May 29, 2015 Ugly Chicago Apartment " width="500" height="300" /> A recent Craigslist ad for a Humboldt Park apartment in Chicago, Ill. bore some unfamiliar words to real estate advertising . Cathy Mcdonagh, the property manager of the listed apartment, described the $895 three-bedroom unit as “super UGLY” with “zero character.” Rather than wasting potential renter ’s time, Mcdonagh wanted to be upfront about the less than flattering apartment. And lucky for her, people are still interested in renting the unit. See pictures of this “ugly” Chicago apartment.
